Many faith groups, clubs, businesses and other service organizations find creative ways to support SPARCC in its mission to fight domestic violence and sexual assault.

Some ideas include:

• Organize a donation drive.
• Organize an event that raises funds or awareness (bake sale, workplace campaign, yard sale, sell food at an event, etc.).
• Participate in our holiday toy store, where participants shop free of charge.
• Conduct a cell phone drive (collect used cell phones to be recycled and used as 911 phones).
• Donate holiday baskets or gifts for families in shelter (Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Easter, Halloween, etc.).
• Hold an event with SPARCC as the beneficiary (golf outing, fashion show,etc.).
• Corporate Giving – Area businesses get involved with SPARCC through cash contributions as well as participation in awareness events, supporting one of the events above as a team, event sponsorship, or providing professional services.

Shelter Wish Lists 

When survivors of violence seek for safety and security at SPARCC, they often do so without financial resources. In addition to shelter, we provide food and other basic necessities to these families in their time of crisis. There are certain items we need on an ongoing basis. Your in-kind donations, especially of the following items, will help us continue to meet the needs of the families we serve here at SPARCC.

Household Supplies

• Paper products (including 1 ply toilet paper, paper towels, paper cups, paper plates and plastic ware)
• Cleaning products
• New twin-size bed sheets
• Crib sheets
• Pillows and pillow cases
• Bath towels
• Laundry and dish detergent
• Mops, brooms, dust pans
• Blankets
• Sippy cups for babies

Non-Perishable Food Items

• Food (especially canned goods)
• Rice (white and yellow)
• Peanut butter and jelly
• Sugar
• Cereal
• Coffee and tea

New Clothing

• Socks and underwear (adults of all sizes)
• T-shirts and cotton pants (adults of all sizes–distributed by advocates at the hospital to survivors of sexual assault)
• Robes and pajamas (adults of all sizes)

New Personal Care/Hygiene Items

• Disposable diapers & wipes
• Sanitary pads & tampons
• Hair care products
• Hand & body lotion
• Deodorant
• Hairbrushes & combs
• Shampoo & conditioner (full sizes)
• Toothbrushes & toothpaste
• Soap
• Mouthwash (full-sizes and travel sizes)

Other needs

• Gas cards
• Bus passes
• Pre-paid phone cards
• Gift cards (Grocery, Target or Wal-Mart are the most needed)
• Used/unwanted cellphones

SPARCC collects used cell phones to help survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Donated cell phones are refurbished and programmed to serve as 911 phones to help those in crisis. Donations are accepted at SPARCC’s Sarasota Outreach Office located at 2139 Main Street. Phones do not have to be in working order.

If possible, please include chargers and clear phones of personal information.
